It’s time to fill out Calgary Flames report cards! A chance for you, the fans, to review each Coach, Management and player’s performance over the past season. Granted, it wasn’t a full season and was nothing like a regular season. Like most Flames seasons, there were a lot of ups and downs. Throw in a big losing skid, player scoring droughts, and the Ottawa Senators, and you have a recipe for a very mediocre season.
But, let’s see what you all think. Select each Coach, Management and player’s grade from the dropdown under their name then click the “Finish Survey” button at the bottom. Results will be posted in a future article, so stay tuned!
Coaches & Management
Head Coach Geoff Ward was replaced mid-season by Darryl Sutter. The team has been playing harder, but still hasn’t produced enough scoring to win more games.

Jacob Markstrom has handled almost all of the Goaltending duties this season. It hasn’t seemed to phase him though. Markstrom has been the Flames’ best player in almost every game this season.

The Flames’ Defense has had it’s moments this season. The addition of Chris Tanev was definitely a good one. They have definitely been better since Sutter took over. They take care of the middle of the ice a lot more now I find. But unfortunately, it’s too little too late as the team was in a huge hole when Sutter arrived.

Scoring has been sparse in most of the games this season. Matthew Tkachuk hasn’t been the physical pest he has been in past seasons. Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan have been hit and miss… mostly miss. Sam Bennett has been doing great… since being traded.
