Smackdown comes to us live tonight from inside the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida!
Kofi Issues a Challenge for SummerSlam
Last week on Smackdown, WWE champion Kofi Kingston was pinned by Randy Orton. Knowing the “rules” of pro wrestling, this means he’s the most likely superstar for Kofi to face. Before last week, the only singles match Kofi has lost was against Samoa Joe before Extreme Rules.
It wouldn’t make much sense to have Kofi face anyone else. Orton is the only blemish of Kofi’s record since becoming champ and he needs to get his win back.
Shane McMahon Addresses Kevin Owens
This segment will look to set up the singles match between these two at SummerSlam. Preferably with a stipulation of if Shane loses, he’ll give up his power in WWE; or something like that. This Shane McMahon thing has gone on way too long and it looks to be coming to an end.
McMahon is a great heel and this type of story would work if he was actually a wrestler. Heel authority figures have been overused in WWE for two decades at this point and it’s run it’s course. Give KO the win at SummerSlam and keep McMahon off WWE TV for at least a couple years.
Ember Moon vs Charlotte Flair
Ember Moon, former NXT Woman’s champion, has floundered on the main roster. She was bullied for a solid six weeks by Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville, and now she looks to be getting into the groove of things.
Moon will go one on one with Charlotte tonight and Ember has never needed a win more desperately. They say wins and loses don’t matter in WWE, but that couldn’t be more false. Moon needs the win here. It doesn’t hurt Charlotte, losing will never hurt Charlotte at this point.
#GiveWWEWomenAChance was a huge trend this morning after no women’s wrestling matches were showcased last night. Well here you go unhappy fans, WWE is giving us a WrestleMania caliber match tonight on Smackdown.
Shawn Michaels to be Guest Commentator
24 hours removed from helping Seth Rollins fend off the OC with his DX partner, Triple H, Michaels will be in the commentary booth on tonight’s edition of Smackdown.
It hasn’t been confirmed as of yet if HBK will be doing commentary for the whole show or just a certain portion of it. We’ll all have to wait and see on tonight’s show!
Will Daniel Bryan Make his Announcement?
Last week on Smackdown, Bryan said before the show that he had a career-altering announcement to make. He teased making it, but never went through with it. Could this announcement really be as big as promoted? Or is this a case of WWE actually doesn’t know what they want him to say yet?
My biggest pet peeve in wrestling is when the promotion doesn’t deliver on something they’ve been advertising, especially when it’s the most hyped up segment on their show last week. If you’re advertising Bryan to say something huge, have him say it.
