SmackDown comes to use live tonight from inside the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, LA!
King of the Ring Continues
After two weeks, the first round of the King of the Ring tournament comes to an end tonight. Ali will take on Buddy Murphy and Chad Gable wrestles his former tag team partner, Shelton Benjamin.
Murphy has been on fire as of late. Two straight weeks of having the best match on any WWE show those weeks has been eyeopening, and making him a favorite to win the whole thing in the process. Ali on the other hand, was robbed his chance to be in Elimination Chamber due to injury, Kofi took his place, and the rest is history. This would be an outstanding comeback story but Murphy is just too hot right now. Murphy takes the win tonight, and the sky’s the limit for him.
Gable & Benjamin have history in the past, and recently Benjamin has been making short jokes throughout the past couple of weeks towards Gable. This should be a fun match up between two accomplished amateur wrestlers. With these weird backstage segments with Benjamin give me the feeling that he’s going to go over here. Chad Gable is better off in 205 Live; he’d do so well in an environment like 205.
Bryan & Rowan Demand an Apology
Once again for another week, we still don’t know who’s attacked Roman. Bryan & Rowan ‘revealed’ their attacker last week to end SmackDown, it was a man who resembled Rowan, but wasn’t a WWE superstar or anything; it looked like they pulled the man off the street.
This man was probably paid or blackmailed into doing these things, and the real attacker is still at large. My best guest is to say that it’ll be Daniel Bryan. An eventual Roman vs Bryan match at a ppv is more than ideal in any situation. Two of the best wrestlers in WWE going head to head in a grudge match, with a good story behind it? Yes please.
WWE is doing well to prolong this story and get as much out of it as they can. This could easily run this all the way over into November and have it be a featured match at Survivor Series. WWE has to come up with a new concept for it now, since people go between Raw & SmackDown Live now and they can’t do the battle of the brands.
Randy Orton Answers Kofi’s Attack
Kofi Kingston got his redemption last week by laying Orton & The Revival out with a steel chair. Orton & The Revival took Xavier Woods out and beat down the New Day the week before, allowing them to have a numbers advantage for the time being.
With Kofi’s attack happening last week, Orton & The Revival will have their head on a swivel this week. They need to be ready for either Kofi or Big E to come out of anywhere, because they will.
This rivalry has gotten personal, Orton is hurting those around Kofi and getting in his head, causing him to lash out like he did last week. If Orton keeps the mind games up, his chance of winning another WWE championship is inevitable.
