Overlooked wrestlers are, unfortunately, part of WWE. There are a whole plethora of talent who aren’t booked properly, not used or just left backstage. I hate wasting talent, so I sent out the following tweet towards the end of last year to get some feedback from you, dear reader, about who you think is overlooked.

The replies were many and opinions seemed clear in some areas. After looking over the replies, I thought why not put them all into a faction? I do love a good faction, they generate their own storylines and who doesn’t love it when people take over? So with that in mind, I present to you the newest WWE faction : The Overlooked

The Tag Team : Cesaro (nominated by @kieranthekiz, @G4reth_WWE, @Bruce412) and Dolph Ziggler (nominated by @TheBeardedMonk)

Let’s begin by looking at the first component of The Overlooked – a tag team, which will see the pairing up of Cesaro and Ziggler. We all know who Cesaro is. We all love Cesaro. He is arguably one of the most talented wrestlers WWE has on the roster, but he’s had one run one as US Champ and multiple runs as part of a tag team, initially with Kidd and then with Sheamus. He helped put NXT on the map with his matches against Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn. I honestly don’t understand why he hasn’t had a bigger push already, but everyone knows that Cesaro can do so much more than he is being allowed to do.

Ziggler is made of the same cut as Cesaro – a workhorse, someone  who works his ass off in the ring. One of the biggest pops I remember was when he cashed in Money in the Bank against del Rio. After his start in Spirit Squad, he was able to reinvent himself and had some memorable moments with Vickie Guerrero among others. He also was part of Sting’s debut at WWE Survivor Series, where he single handly took out The Authority. Then, his booking became so 50/50 and his character ended up floating in the pool and people knew there was no chance of the company getting behind him.

The Singles : EC3 (nominated by @chip__mccoy, @AMM1684856767, @G4reth_WWE)

I feel so bad for EC3. After his initial run in the company in the old NXT, he went over to TNA and re-invented himself. He then returned in 2018 to NXT and feuded with Velveteen Dream and Undisputed Era. He even got a pin fall on Adam Cole, before he was moved up to the main roster. However, since debuting on the main roster, he has been pulled back massively. He had a quick match against Dean Ambrose, which took place when Ambrose’s departure was announced. The fan backlash led EC3 to be punished by Vince McMahon. He became a 4 time 24/7 Champion before a concussion sidelined him in November.

The Woman : Killer Kelly (nominated by @IamArenas)

There is a plethora of underutilised female talent on the WWE roster, but I have put Killer Kelly into The Overlooked for one simple reason. She is the future. Currently assigned to NXT:UK, it will only be a matter of time before moving over to America. She has amazing matches in wXw and hasn’t had the run in NXT:UK she deserves. So why not put her in the spotlight and let her wrestling do the talking. Coming up as part of a group would help to protect her. It would also allow the crowd to get onside with her too.

Closing thoughts

This could be a very fun group, and more importantly allow talent TV time. Yes, social media is an outlet. Yes, house shows are outlets. However, look at NXT and NXT:UK – amazing talent on both shows, but that doesn’t translate to the main roster. Is that because of generally shoddy booking? Probably. But the majority of the WWE fan base watches only RAW  and SmackDown. Using those 5 hours of TV correctly is pivotal. Letting talent use those 5 hours is pivotal.
