Monday Night Raw comes to us live tonight from inside the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA!
King of the Ring Continues
This week on the Monday Night Raw side of the KOTR bracket, we have Baron Corbin vs The Miz, and Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre.
Ricochet vs. McIntyre is interesting. These are two men WWE has put a lot of stock in recently, and two wrestlers one would thing would go far in this tournament. Nevertheless, they’re squaring off tonight and it could very well steal the show.
Miz hasn’t won a big match in over a year, and that’s not going to change tonight. Baron Corbin is my pick to win the whole thing, and is a heavy favorite. This tournament is perfect for Corbin. He was the constable, then acting GM of Monday Night Raw, and now he can be King Corbin. His whole gimmick is that he’s better than you and that’ll just solidify his character, making him a better heel in the process.
Sasha Banks vs Natalya
Sasha Banks made her spectacular, yet controversial return to Monday Night Raw two weeks ago. She attacked Natalya and beat down Becky Lynch, who was trying to make the save.
WWE can do no wrong at the moment with Lynch & Banks. It’s only been a couple of weeks but they’ve left the fans buzzing after both shows. It’s very clear that Sasha Banks is the next challenger to the man and is likely the woman to take the belt off her.
With that being said, Banks has to get through tonight first. Her first match back since WrestleMania and first singles match in even longer. It’ll be worth the watch to see how Banks performs, likely to change up her move set and wrestle at a more aggressive pace.
Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman is the number one contender for the Universal championship. He is also Raw Tag Team championship with Seth Rollins, the Universal champion.
Last week, Rollins & Strowman won the tag team titles from the OC. It’s very likely they’ll drop the titles within the next couple of weeks via heel turn from one of the two champions. We’ve seen it before many times. One example is when Shawn Michaels & John Cena won the WWE tag team titles, even walking into the main event of WrestleMania in a singles match as tag team champions together. It eventually lead to them falling apart and it’s exactly what’s going to happen to Rollins & Strowman.
Strowman can’t keep his eyes off the Universal title. The turn and eventual match is inevitable, but it’s all about how we get there.
